White Lotus Crafts is a Guwahati based company working to strengthen India's handloom and handicraft sector through design innovation, artisan cluster development, capacity building, enterprise support, sustainability and eco conservation, and market connect.
We work with artisans, weavers, craft clusters, producer groups, entrepreneurs, designers, institutions and market partners. The purpose behind every engagement stays fixed: help traditional skills grow into stronger and more sustainable enterprises.
What sits behind our approach
Our method combines the cultural strength of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, improved production systems, business development, technology, responsible material use, branding, and access to markets.
Authenticity stays protected. Cultural identity stays protected. Products change, because markets change, and a product frozen in time loses the buyer who once paid for it.
The craft and the enterprise behind the craft
Most craft support in India stops at the product. A design workshop, a sample, an exhibition stall, a photograph in a report. The artisan returns to the same village with the same three buyers.
We work on both sides. The craft, meaning skill, material, finish and design. The enterprise, meaning costing, capital, delivery, branding, repeat orders and ownership of the margin.
Where we work
Guwahati is our base. Northeast India is our closest working region. Projects run across India wherever a department, foundation or buyer needs the same set of skills.
